SAUL BASS: A LIFE IN FILM & DESIGN

Saul Bass was the designer of iconic titles and posters for films by Alfred Hitchcock and Otto Preminger, among others; the creator of dynamic logos and advertising campaigns for clients such as Quaker Oats and United Airlines; and an Academy Award winning filmmaker. Pat Kirkham, co-author with Jennifer Bass of Saul Bass: A Life in Film and Design, explores the world of one of the 20th century’s most influential visual innovators. A book signing will follow the program.

Super 8 Exhibition Continues at Christopher Grimes Gallery
“The Christopher Grimes Gallery will host a series of three lectures in conjunction with the ongoing video exhibition, Super 8. July 26 begins with a lecture by independent curator Carole Ann Klonarides on the history and collecting of Los Angeles based video work. Wednesday, July 27 will feature a lecture by Glenn Phillips, curator at the Getty Research Institute, on video art in Brazil. Glenn Phillips joins the gallery again on Thursday the 28th for a lecture on video art in Japan. Each lecture begins promptly at 7pm each night. ”
